🔍 Experienced Back-end Developer 📍 Location: Remote (across EU time-zone) 🕓 Type: Full-time 📃 Contract: Employee contract You’ll be joining the backend development of a live medical device SaaS platform used across Europe. Small team. High autonomy. Modern stack. And yes, we expect you to use AI tools. Seriously. 💡 What’s in it for you? • Real ownership: you're not a ticket-taker, you take responsibility in the small team • Meaningful product: medical device compliance software that genuinely matters to patients • Remote first within the EU time zone: we care about output, not where you sit • Regulatory support included: QbD's expert team has your back on compliance questions 🏢 What you’ll be doing IFUcare is a SaaS platform that delivers electronic Instructions for Use (eIFU) for medical devices - a regulated, high-stakes domain where what you ship genuinely matters. The platform runs on AWS, serves customers across multiple countries, and is actively evolving. Initially, you'll own the entire backend across a newly to be developed platform: the APIs, the data layer and the integrations that keep the business running, and the evolution of the architecture as the platform grows. In the long run, you'll work alongside a frontend and backend developer and collaborate with a DevOps team and external customer teams. The technology: Backend – Must-have: • Java 25 • Kotllin 2.3 • Spring Boot 4 • MySQL (Amazon Aurora) • REST / OpenAPI 3.0 • JWT / OAuth2 / SSO • Docker, Jenkins, AWS Frontend – Good-to-have: • React 18+ / Next.js 15 • TypeScript • Redux Toolkit / TanStack Query • Tailwind CSS + Styled Components • i18next 💪 What you bring • 6–7+ years of backend experience, ideally in a SaaS product • Your Java / Spring Boot experience: it is your primary tool, you know it deeply, not just casually • Solid experience designing and consuming REST APIs, and working with relational databases (MySQL or similar) • Code quality is your priority and you find tests as important as the production code itself. • Comfortable owning a new codebase, contributing to an existing one and making architectural decisions • Familiar with AWS, CI/CD and containerized environments (Docker, Jenkins) • You actively use AI coding assistance (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor…) and it has genuinely changed how you work. You use AI as a coding helper but you still design the architecture and review anything the AI generates. You're well aware of AI hallucinations and know the importance of not only having 'code that works', but a high-quality and performant one. • Strong English: this is mainly a remote role and async communication is everything. However, we would like to meet our local team on a regular basis at one of our QbD offices in Belgium or in Spain. • You don't panic when you inherit legacy code; you figure it out • Experience in regulated industries or with EU MDR / eIFU is a genuine bonus, but absolutely not required. We have regulatory experts in-house who will support you on the compliance side. 🫵 Who you are Our culture is driven by values If this sounds like you, you’ll fit right in: • You’re resilient and tackle challenges with a positive mindset • You’re curious and always up for learning something new • You have a no non-sense approach honest, clear, respectful • You’re innovative and bring ideas, not just opinions • And above all, you’re serious about your work, but not too serious about yourself ✨ About us We support life sciences companies from idea to patient — offering tailored solutions in development, clinical, regulatory, compliance, production, and distribution. With 500+ experts across 8 countries, we help drive innovation in ATMP, biotech, medical devices, diagnostics, digital health, and pharma. We believe in JPEG: Joy. Partnership. Going the Extra Mile. Getting Things Done. You won’t just be taking a job — you’ll be joining a community where people grow, laugh, build, and contribute to something bigger. 📩 Interested? Let’s talk. Send us your CV and motivation letter. You could be the next one to join the QbD family.
