About Thatch For most people, health insurance is something that happens to them: a plan chosen by someone else, with little room to fit their life. Thatch is changing that. We help companies give every employee a real healthcare budget instead of a one-size-fits-all plan, so people can choose the coverage and care that works for them, and employers get predictable costs they can control. It’s a simple idea, but making it real means solving hard problems across healthcare, payments, and technology, and we’re just getting started. We look for people who like solving complex problems, use good judgment, and are comfortable working through ambiguity. People here care deeply about our customers, take real responsibility for what gets built, and are driven by doing work that matters. About the role For most people, health insurance happens to them: a plan chosen by someone else, with little room to fit their life. Thatch is changing that. We help companies give employees a healthcare budget instead of a one-size-fits-all plan, so people can choose the coverage and care that works for them while employers get predictable costs. It's a simple idea, but making it real means solving hard problems across healthcare, payments, and technology. We're just getting started. We look for people who use good judgment, take ownership, and care deeply about building something that matters. Design is central to what makes Thatch stand out. We're building a brand that sets a new standard for healthcare. We're a small, collaborative team with high standards for craft, bold creative thinking, and a shared ambition to make something complex feel remarkably simple. We're looking for a Brand Designer to help shape Thatch's next chapter. We've built a product people love, and now we're ready to bring that same ambition to our visual identity. You'll develop creative concepts and bring them to life across web, campaigns, events, print, and more, helping define how people see and experience Thatch. What you'll do • Shape and evolve Thatch's visual identity, building a distinctive, cohesive brand across every touchpoint. • Develop and execute creative concepts across our website, campaigns, digital content, events, print, and more. • Own design projects end to end, from early exploration and creative direction through production and launch. • Partner with Marketing, Product, and Design to translate business goals and complex ideas into compelling creative work. • Present and advocate for your ideas, incorporating feedback while maintaining a high bar for craft and consistency. • Collaborate with external creative partners when needed, bringing fresh ideas and approaches to how we tell our story. What we are looking for • 3–5 years of experience in brand, visual, or marketing design, ideally at a startup or high-growth company. • A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional craft across typography, layout, color, and visual storytelling. • Experience translating a brand identity into cohesive, high-quality work across digital and physical touchpoints. • Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite. • Ability to move quickly, iterate thoughtfully, and deliver polished work. • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain design decisions and collaborate across teams. • Comfort with ambiguity, a sense of ownership, and the judgment to know when to challenge the brief. Experience we’d be particularly excited about • Motion design, animation, or video experience. • Ability to build and ship web experiences using HTML/CSS, Framer, or similar tools. • Experience using AI tools to explore ideas and improve creative workflows. • Experience helping a growing company evolve its brand. What to expect We aim to keep our interview process thoughtful, rigorous, and efficient. Most candidates complete it within three weeks. • A 30-minute conversation with a recruiter. • A 30-minute conversation with the hiring manager. • A portfolio review focused on your creative process, visual craft, and brand thinking. • Functional interviews focused on creative collaboration, communication, and working style. • A final conversation with a member of our executive team.
