About Zencoder At Zencoder.ai, we build and orchestrate AI agents that ship real work - code, research, operations, and more. What started as developer tooling is becoming a platform where people and agents collaborate across knowledge work tasks. The Opportunity We’re looking for a passionate Senior Software Engineer to collaborate on building the next-generation AI coding platform. This is a rare opportunity to join an early-stage company founded by Andrew Filev (founder of a unicorn startup) — to help scale it into a thriving, world-changing business. Together, we’re shaping the future of software development — closing the gap between idea and reality, and influencing not only how code is written, but how progress happens across every field that depends on software. Key Responsibilities You’ll take ownership of designing and building key features. Our stack currently consists of TypeScript and Kotlin and you may be expected to work across all of them. This is not a “just code what’s assigned” role — we’re looking for people with a product mindset, who think deeply about users, bring ideas for product growth, and aren’t afraid to propose and launch new things. We value people who make things happen through their own enthusiasm, rather than waiting for managers to tell them what to do. Here, individual contributors hold the highest status — they are the driving force behind the company’s progress. You’ll work alongside top professionals in an environment that celebrates curiosity, creativity, and results. Essential Qualifications • 10+ years of experience building complex, production-grade applications, including deep expertise in backend development in Java / Kotlin / TypeScript. • Strong computer science foundation combined with a deep understanding of modern software architecture and design principles — and a proven record of applying them effectively in real-world, user-facing products. • Product mindset — you think beyond code, care about the “why” behind the feature, and proactively contribute ideas that make the product better for users. • Strong sense of ownership — you take initiative, drive projects from concept to launch, and thrive when given autonomy and accountability for outcomes. • Deep familiarity with AI assistants, a solid grasp of the evolving AI landscape, and the ability to translate trends and capabilities into practical product improvements. • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a fast-moving, cross-functional team — communicating clearly, sharing context, and supporting others to achieve shared goals. • Passion for continuous learning, experimentation, and innovation — you stay curious, adapt quickly, and always look for ways to push the boundaries of what’s possible. • Comfort working in dynamic, fast-changing environments — ideally with prior experience in start-ups or early-stage teams where clarity must often be created, not awaited. • Experience or a strong interest in building collaborative, real-time systems is beneficial. Why Join Zencoder? • Shape the Future of Software Creation: We’re not just improving how developers write code — we’re redefining how ideas turn into reality. By closing the gap between concept and execution, we’re creating tools that will influence every industry that relies on software. • Massive Impact, Real Ownership: At Zencoder, you’ll have full visibility into how your work moves the product and the company forward. You’ll ship features that matter, see the immediate impact of your decisions, and get feedback directly from users — fast. • ICs Are the Core: Individual Contributors are the highest-status role at Zencoder. Our culture celebrates those who lead by doing — who create momentum, inspire others, and turn ideas into shipped products. • High-Caliber Team & Founder: Work alongside exceptional AI and software engineers, and learn directly from Andrew Filev, founder of a unicorn startup, who brings deep expertise in scaling world-class technology companies. • Global & Flexible: We hire talent, not coordinates. Work from wherever you’re happiest and most productive — as long as you bring the energy, focus, and results. • Aligned Incentives: Our equity plan ensures that when we succeed, you succeed. Your impact compounds as the company grows. Zencoder is an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
